How to connect the iPod with a car?

Hi,
I bought my Lexus RX330 before they provide Factory-fitted iPod connection.
Well, I like the Griffin one, but I want to experience the real connection.

I checked some of them in Apple homepage. The one from Monster seems to be cheap and good.
Can anyone give me an advice?

Thanks.

JH

I'd recommend the monster i car play plus. after purchasing the monster cassette adapter fromt he apple store, it stopped working in my car. apple would not take it back, it had been 32 days since i purchased it so i emailed monster. they gladly let me return it to them and they sent me a new cassette adapter, well, that one didn't work either. apparently newer cars can't read the tape adapters. so i emailed monster once more to let them know and they offered to send me the icar play wireless transmitter/charger at no extra charge. how's that for customer service? i've used it ever since. it's really really good.

that's my two cents

I have a DLO TransPod which I connect with a cassette adapter, rather than the FM, because it sounds MUCH better than the FM route. I replaced my factory speakers, and it sounds great! I notice on their Web site that their newest model shows the new video iPod in it. Personally, I'd go for the TransPod Direct <http://www.dlodirect.com/Products/TPDirect silverProd.tpl?command=showpage&cart=11301052045696925> because it only includes the line out and cassette adapter, and save $30 on the transmitter. If you have an AUX input in your car stereo, that's even better.

I'd wanted to install a Wire-Tunes interface in my car, but since I already have a CD changer built in, there wasn't a connector on the back of my head unit. I'd hold off, though, on buying a direct-connect iPod controller until you hear from others if they work with the 5G models. I've read that some don't.

One day I got real sick of my Griffin iTrip, and so I decided that I was going to hard wire my ipod to my car, and after I took out my stereo, I found that there is an "OUTPUT" (right and left audio - RCA) that works just as well as an input, but only in the rear speakers.
Since my front speakers are blown out anyways, it doesn't matter to me.
I'm going to eventually just wire the iPod directly into my speaker wires though sooner or later.

So if your stereo doesn't have the right and left RCA audio ports, then what you can do is just hook it up with some simple splicing and wire nuts (on my car, the audio cables are labeled on the actual insulation).

I have also seen some kits at Best Buy for about a hundred dollars.
That might be more what you're looking for, if you already have yourself a Lexus.

I know that the wIre-tUnes interface will not work with the in dash 6 disc. I figured that out the hard way while trying to install it in my '01 Mustang Bullitt.

Here's the odd thing...

My factory head unit, controlled the ipod music, playlist, ect.. But I didn't get any audio coming from my factory speakers.

Wire-Tunes tech support claims that the 6-Disc changer is fighting for the audio response.

JH-

itrip and all other transmitters for FM radio are great if you like living in the stone ages. Try a interface adapter from Crutchfield.com. Type in your type model and make of car and you will have a clear, non static connection to the car and does not run out of battery power, since it charges. I own the USA Specs for my GMC and it rocks. Once you install it, you will want to run over and back up over the itrip or any other belkin transmitter. 120$ and worth every cent. Good luck.

Those are all good, but sounds like you want the real connection, like I got. First, do you have the factory headunit in your car? Does it have a CD changer or controls for it?? If so, get this first: http://www.logjamelectronics.com/toyauxdmxv2.html This will give you a line-in port from your CD changer port in the back of your headunit. I use this in my Scion xB & it rocks.

After that, get this: http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_ID=149006
After that, just choose a mounting system & you are good to go!
