keyboard short cut for sleep mode

Just wanted to know if anyone has ever been able to assign a keyboard shortcut to put the computer in sleep mode. I find it a hassle, okay, a tiny hassle, to have to go to the apple and choose "sleep".

eMac, MCP, MB, Mac OS X (10.5.4)

Open Keyboard and Mouse preferences, click on the Shortcuts tab. Scroll to bottom of list and select Applications, then click on the [+} add button and select Finder from the drop down menu. In the dialog enter the word Sleep, then press the shortcut keys you want to assign - for example OPTION-Z. Now when you press those keys the computer will go to sleep.
