iTunes 8 - "Unknown error occurred (5002)"

I updated to iTunes 8 and Sync'd my iPhone G3 without any problems. I've purchased an App and synch it with the iPhone, all went smoothly -BUT- when I've attempted to update some Apps from within iTunes, I got the following message "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (5002)". I've tried last night and all day today and get the same message. Anybody having the same issue?

MacBook Pro 17 in., iPhone G3, Apple TV, Time Capsule, Mac OS X (10.5.4)

MAybe itunes was having a problem or so many people were downloading IT 8 that it couldn't cope.

I was getting this originally trying to update some of my iPhone applications via iTunes 8 and also thought it was due to server load. But I came across a suggestion on another board which was to update the application on the iPhone via the AppStore, then re-sync with iTunes. This worked for me when iTunes later detected applications which could be upgraded, I had no problems....

Your mileage may vary and I guess something will get fixed in either iPhone 2.1 and/or iTunes 8.0.1

Same issue here. When I try updating the apps on my iPhone, it says to the applications will be available for download when I log into iTunes on my computer. When I try to upgrade the apps from iTunes, it gives me the same error you are getting.

If this was a Microsoft product, they would be getting bashed so heavily with all the problems people experience with these things! Yea, there's been a lot of press about the antenna and 3g, but other than the boards, there hasn't been much press about the frequent crashes, app store issues, and the terrible backup/restore times.

Hi. Here is something I have noticed... I too got this error. I have fixed the problem. I am no expert but here is what i think might be going on here...
open itunes and bring up your applications. Right click and show in windows explorer (sorry mac guys). This brings up a list of the actual files that itunes is using..

I noticed a bug in v7 of itunes whereby I had several copies of each app all with numbers at the end eg. Clowdy1 Clowdy2 Clowdy3 etc.
What is happening with itunes 8 is that it is now appending the actual version number to the file eg. Clowdy 1.0.3 for example. I take it this will help it to update and recognise properly which apps need updated and that it can delete the older versions. In v7 it had multiple copies of the files and had problems sometimes seeing updates..

Anyway, that is just something interesting I noticed.. What I did to fix it...
I deleted all apps from the iphone manualy. I deleted all apps from itunes also.
I wrote down all the names of course so I was able to go out and redownload them all. (This is free of charge by the way if you already own an app it knows and won't charge you for it- it confirms this on screen!).
As I am downloading each app again, itunes 8 is appending the proper version numbers to the end of each file..

OK so this is a pain but I hope that once done, it will put an end to this problem once and for all..

I am only half way through downloading all my apps (I have many) but so far no more errors and I have high hopes for this being fixed...
