5th Generation Cases

Is anyone aware of a case with a belt clip that's available now for the 5th generation iPod? Obviously the one that came with it isn't going to work at the gym. Has anyone tried fitting it into a 4th generation case? There are several manufacturers with plans for cases but none will be out until mid November at the earliest.

The 4G 20 and 30GB players are about the same size as the 5G 60GB players so a 4G case should work well if you bought a 60GB. A 4GB 20 or 30GB case would be a little lose for the 5G 30GB player though. Probably best to just deal with the included sleeve until a proper case is released.

If anyone is interested, the Incase cases for the 4th generation iPods fit just about perfectly. The only drawback, and it's a minor one for the temporary protection, is they cut off the new screen slightly. The neoprene model cuts off more then the leather. Since it doesn't look like there are going to be any cases available with belt clips until mid November this works great for those who use their iPods when working out, etc. The Apple Store carries them. The neoprene version is $24.95 and the leather, $29.95.

Here are the numbers Harry:

4th and 5th gen iPods are all 4.1 x 2.4. Here are the various thicknesses:

5G 30gig is .43"
5G 60gig is .55"
4G 20gig is .57"
4G 40gig is .69"

20gig clip: M9647G/A
40gig clip: M9648G/A

The 60gig 5G with Invisible shield should fit and go perfectly in Apples 20gig clip and is still readily available.

Joel's right and it's a pain when trying to read menu items. I bought one anyway to be safe and plan to return it the second an alternative arrives.

I got my Zcover for my 5g 60gb and I like it alot. Its alot thinner that iskin.

Cases come out just about weekly. I have collected most of them and update regularly here

There are plenty to choose from - silicone, high fashion leather, machined aluminum, skins and decals and even waterproof for skiing or swimming.

This just in,

Despite the numbers, the 40gig clip fits the 60gig video perfectly. Together with the Invisible Shield, I have the perfect minimalist packaging. 🙂
