Can I have text in columns with a column?

I would like to "Present Text in Columns" within a column. According to the Number '08 help dialog, I can. I just have to go to Text Inspector and do it. But, it won't let me. I took away wrap text, but that didn't work. Any ideas? I'm sure it's simple but I can't think of anything.

Thanks!!

(These are the instructions Help gives...)

To create and format columns using the Text Inspector:

Select the text box or rectangular shape with text you want to divide into columns.
Click Inspector in the toolbar, click the Text Inspector button, and then click Columns.
To indicate how many columns you want, use the Columns field.
To use equal-width columns, select “Equal column width.”
To set up different column widths, deselect “Equal column width,” double-click a Column value, and type a new width.

To change the distance between columns, double-click a Gutter value and change it.

Hello

The tool behaves flawlessly when we take care to read the Help carefully.

The Help page starts with:

Presenting Text in Columns

You can organize text in a text box or a rectangular shape into columns. When text has filled one column, it flows into the next column.

Select the text box or rectangular shape with text you want to divide into columns.

It is clear that it's a feature dedicated to _text boxes_ , no to cell's contents.
