Ok... I've seen other people confused about this. I have no idea where the heck it is on the phone.

I just got a new 3G yesterday, (dropped my original iPhone for the first time, slid out of a leather case, broken) so I've been really excited about having a new phone and the new update.

I love the Genius playlist in iTunes. It's kinda lame not being able to find the beloved genius playlist on the phone. Especially since it appears to be the only new feature of the update.

Does anyone know where to look so I can say that I'm just blind? Or is it legitimately hard to find?

    People are reporting you:

    1) Must have Genius enabled in iTunes, and
    2) You must preform a sync

After these steps you will see the icon on the Phone.

If you read the forums, you'll see that it's been mentioned 6 times and counting; you have iTunes 8.0, iPhone 2.1 and re-sync your iPhone. The genius playlist will appear in your ipod playlist feature.

Did you enable Genius in iTunes?

Where are you looking for the Genius on your iPhone?

Glad to hear that Rob, and sorry for being a tad short in my original post, I assumed you had not read any threads or did a search.

I kept doing the "just sync" approach with no results. I finally went into Ipod > Playlists (where it's supposed to be), THEN did a sync, and showed up. I'd sync'd about 5 times prior to this. Hope it helps.

Still didn't work for me. I've got the Genius icon to show up under my scrub bar and under the playlists tab, but it says I have to enable it in iTunes.

The thing is...it IS enabled in iTunes!

EDIT: I think this is the answer: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1706414&tstart=0

I now feel like an idiot.

Same problem here, I've installed the 2.1 software update but no genius on my iPhone
I have to say that I manually put my music on the iPhone, is there anyone who has a solution?

I had the same problem and here is how I got my iPhone 3G to work with Genius and iTunes 8. First thing, I had already upgraded to iTunes 8 and started using Genius before upgrading my iPhone to 2.10.

When I upgraded my iPhone and synced, Genius didn't work. I had to turn off Genius in iTunes > Store > Turn of Genius and then turned Genius back on again. Then synced my iPhone again and Genius was working.

In itunes ive turned it off and on and ive updated it under the store tab. I still cant use genius. I have the manually manage music and videos option on my iphone selected. Can someone please tell me what im doing wrong and help me fix this? I would really appreciate it. Thanks

In iTunes 8, you must have the Genius feature turned on, and it must have gone through the process of sending information about your music library to Apple.

Then, after you've synced the iPhone with the 2.1 software, click on the iPod icon. Pick on the Playlist icon, and you'll see the Genius playlist shown at the top.

Start playing a song. Click once over the display to bring up the timeline control that shows where in the song the playhead is. You'll see a Genius icon below the timeline. If you click the Genius icon, it can be used as the basis for creating a Genius playlist.
