I haven't had a dropped call in a while. Today when I woke up I updated the firmware to 2.1 and had 3 dropped calls just on the way to work. Has anybody else encountered this? Also my EDGE icon looks different. It is just an E instead of the E in the box.
What did the network reset exactly do and did you have to put in any info again such as wifi passwords, mail settings, etc or did it just work again without any input?
I am getting to think people are JUST complaining about anything and EVERYTHING that goes wrong with their phones. Look people technology isn't PERFECT. The problem could lie upon other factors besides just YOUR phone. Haven't you all ever thought that Apple is trying their best to correct these issues? I mean it took Sprint 1 year to come out with a LITTLE update to add EVDO Rev. A & GPS for the HTC Touch...Apple has come out with updates much faster Get a grip people AT LEAST APPLE IS DOING SOMETHING and NOT ignoring the problems! Gee Wiz....
I disagree... You're sticking up for a company and a product that simply doesn't work as it should. And you think that the consumer should just sit back and accept it because it's technology? Apple did very well with the 1.x software on the original iPhone, why can't it keep up with the 2.x software on the 3g? Should we expect less because it is new? Let's put it in perspective... the iPhone is a phone, it should be able to make phone calls and not drop them or fail on the way out. Think of a new car that you just bought... sometimes it starts, sometimes it dies on the highway, but it's a really cool car. Would you be okay with that?

How is this against Apples TOS? I am defending Apple.
Alex, people have paid for a 3G phone. All we want is to get what we paid for. We can't afford to carry around a phone that misses and drops calls and we resent paying for a 3G internet browsing experience we don't have access to. Is that so unreasonable?
Previous to 2.1, I had dropped calls EVERY SINGLE DAY without fail.
So far this weekend, I've had none.
Crystal clear reception. Great 3G performance.
I for one am extremely happy with this update.
And I have the right to state my opinion on here, just as you do and everyone else. Apple keeps deleting my posts for whatever reason I am not sure. Which is crazy because I am defending them. I stated my opinion and Apple doesn't like mine? They are crazy.
Of course you have the right to state your opinion, I just find it hard to understand why you think its unreasonable for people to expect a vital piece of equipment - their phone - to work.
As for Apple deleting posts, they're doing that to all of us I'm afraid.
The moderators are more concerned with how the post comes across more than the exact the content of posts. They don't like rants or raves (if they are abusive).
Because a lot of people don't understand how technology works and they jump to conclusions on why Apple is not fixing the issues; which is being addressed by Apple.
SO I am not being "conservative" enough for Apple. Oh well....
My last post is NOT abusive..

Perhaps people jump to conclusions because Apple won't provide us with any facts to base our conclusions on. A little communication would go a very, very long way.
In the meantime people have paid money for something that doesn't work and consumers just aren't going to accept that, whatever the technical considerations.
Incidentally my iPhone is my seventh personal mobile phone. In addition I've had several mobile phones for work. I've been working in the IT industry for over 15 years so I think I know "how technology works". I still don't find the current situation acceptable.
