Does anyone know if I can download recorded TV from my TIVO (or laptop) to the video IPOD?

I've used my DV camcorder to capture video to the Mac. Just run video out from Tivo through a DV camcorder and firewire into Mac. Capture the show in iMovie and then choose "export for ipod". You then have a quicktime file already to go. It's not as easy spending $1.99 for a download, but it's free and easy.
Later versions of tivo , series 2 and up , have update 7.x which has tivo to go. (just google for some of the creative ways people use that)
Transfer shows from tivo to your computer using tivo desktop software - make sure you have the latest version.
Use Direct Show Dump Utility (free) to stip off tivo's protection from the file.
Use Videora (free) to convert these files to ipod format http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod

Unfortunately TiVo-to-go is not compatible with Mac; only Windows XP. Anybody have suggestions for Mac users?
Yes!
You can go to https://yourTiVoIPaddress
make sure you use https, not http
Your user name is tivo. Your password is your tivo's media access key, which you can get from tivo's setup screen, or when you log in to tivo.com
When the page pulls up, it will list your shows with a download link for each. I however, could not get this to download. Maybe you will be able to.

Unfortunately, Tivo to go is for Windows only. Those of us using Macs need to find alternate methods of getting Tivo content off.
One that I've used is with a DV hardware codec from Sony. I had this for video editing anyway. I connect the video inputs to my Tivo's outputs & the Firewire connector to my Mac. Using QuickTime Pro, I choose a new video recording while choosing Save to VCR on the Tivo. Use the native format when recording. Once you've saved the show to your Mac, trim any excess with QTPro. Then use the export to iPod option. Once that finishes, add the video to iTunes and sync to your iPod.

Thanks NetBuzz! That worked perfectly - I had no idea it was so easy to transfer a TiVo show over to my Mac. Unfortunately, I still cannot view the content of the .tivo file on my Mac.
It looks like DirectShow Dump and Videora are both PC only apps - no Mac versions.
Now that I've gotten the show on to my Mac, anyone have any suggestions on how to convert it to a viewable format on a Mac?
