Can't download MobileMe web gallery albums...

Hello,

I'm having a problem with my MobileMe gallery albums and I couldn't find a forum for MobileMe users. If there is a forum can someone please direct me to it?

In the meantime, here's my problem in case I'm in the right place:

I have several albums at my gallery that a friend tried to download to her PC running Windows XP. She was able to download but the decompression failed and she couldn't open the albums. Something about the Zip file failing. She never had this problem before with my albums when MobileMe was .mac.

I'm using an iMac and I'm able to download all but one album easily to my Mac. We both however are able to download individual pictures without a problem, it's just tedious.

Also, my daughter who runs Vista on a PC wasn't able to download an album I sent her but was able to get the pictures individually. The album I sent her was an album I had no problem downloading in full to my iMac.

I have only one album in my gallery that fails when I try to download it to my iMac and it was an album that someone else uploaded to my gallery after I sent them a link. She uploaded it from a PC. I even tried deleting then re-uploading it to my gallery from iPhoto '08, but it didn't fix the problem.

Does anyone know if there are issues with MobileMe right now that haven't been resolved regarding downloading of an album to a PC? Or even to a Mac? I'd sure like to resolve the frustrating problem.

Thanks in advance, Debbie

Same problem here.
I cannot download any album published with aperture or iphoto. Not on my mac not on the xp running throug parrallels and not on and xp workstation on any other location.
Donwload of the album starts then hangs at a percentage after that it flies quickly to 100%.
Then decompressing failed.

Mailed already a few times with apple support but no solution yet.
This morning I have mailed them many screenies so they hopefully find the solution to this problem.

That is a know issue with the MobileMe galleries. You can download individual photos but not the zipped entire lot. Report the problem here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html

The more reports the higher up on the fixit list the problem will be placed.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.
