Thump or single drum beat sound when closing apps or alert windows

I have posted this problem on 2 other forums.
One suggested to trash the User->Library->Preferences->com.apple.systempreferences.plist.
That fixed the problem for a week but the thump or single drum beat sound has started again.
This problem started 3-4 weeks ago. I do not recall installing anything new lately.
This bugs me. I have to turn down the speaker volume. And yes the "Play user interface sound effect" box in the International Preference is NOT checked.

Does anybody recognize this?

Hi Jacques,

Did you mean in Sound Prefs?

That info is in 2 files it appears...

/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/ByHost/.GlobalPreferences.<12digitHexNum ber>.plist

/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist

Did you try moving it/them to the Desktop & Reboot? You can always move them back if it doesn't work.

Xabd at Techsurvivors.net helped me find my problem. I found the cause was a selection in the Preferences of a software called LazyMouse which moves the cursor to the Default position in an alert window. The “Make a sound” box was checked. Unchecking it fixed the problem.
