Happy with 2.1 Update

Well, I for one am very happy with the 2.1 update. AT&T provides me with weak 3g coverage at my home even before the 2.01 update. While my 3G coverage from ATT is not any better, the iPhone does a much better job of hanging on to the signal than 2.02 did. I no longer drop calls when I am sitting in my living room. Battery life seems better to. Usually after 8 hours of use i am down a 1/4, it is still showing a full charge.

Nice to hear that your battery has improved significantly. I'm going to test starting from Monday of next week to see how long I can get my iphone to go before it dies. On 2.02, from a full charge, I can go from Monday Morning (7 AM) and to Thursday Night before i go to bed. It annoys me bacause after first charge, and 1 day of using, already 1 line of battery went down. By the end of second day, my battery is showing at 50% And i only used few calls, and was always on airplane mode (since I go to school, and I barely get any service inside the building), and after i turn off the airplane mode the battery meter starts to go down pretty fast, and i can see that there is an inaccuracy there.

The reason why i choose to start testing on monday is to see how far i can get it up to and it's a lot easier for me to remember.

I like the update as well. I did not have any complaints before other than the occasional contacts lag. The patch resolves it for me.

I switched over from a Blackberry 8310 (and many BB's before that) and the iPhone is night and day better. BB has so many problems like memory leaks, lack of memory for applications, email sync issues and more.

It is correct for me becuase it always has been 4 days no matter what I do. As I said before, if i leave airplane mode off when in school, i get no service, and most likely it will only last 2 days. But if i leave it in airplane mode during school hours then it will last me 4 days. Plus i have 3G turned off, no push, location service is off, wifi is off, bluetooth is off. Just on edge. And I dont' use the internet on my phone. Only listening to music (2 hours everyday) and calling (and texting).

As for 2.1 I have yet to try!

Well, I don't know about prime time, maybe they can now divert their efforts on delivering the features we really need, like copy and paste, forwarding text messages, and proper Exchange synchronisation (such as tasks & accurate calendar synchronisation without duplicated/missing appointments)

Once these are delivered, then we can talk about "prime time" - at the moment, it's still a late night, b-grade horror movie for me.

Cheers,
Pete

If you turn off 3G, and most other network services, it can last that long. I believe the original poster stated that he mostly listens to music and few phone calls and text with all services off.

I haven't been that pleased with battery life myself, but I realize that so much of it comes down to power management. Apple should offer some preset settings like for instance a saver mode that automatically drops the phone to edge when the phone is just standing by....

You didn't know before confining yourself to a late night, b-grade horror movie that the plot isn't about copy and paste? And then why not just to switch off the show in a first 30 days (or whatever return period in Oz is)?

I am happy so far with the update. Battery life has not improved or worsened for me. The big thing I am happy about is that once again I can listen to my voice mails thru my BT headset. I lost this feature when 2.0 came about. But now once again I have it back. I am using a Plantronics 925 BT headset and I am very happy with it.
I have dropped only 2 calls today on 3G, compared with dropping each call I m ade before the update on 3G forcing me to turn it off till today.

Not a bit of change in the battery life for me. Still lasts about a 3/4 of a day. One big downside, at least for me, with this update is the crap audio quality when listening to voice mail messages and using my Plantronics bluetooth headset. There's a separate thread for the audio quality if anyone is at all interested.

Net/net for me: Battery life - no change and audio quality for voice mail and bluetooth is now poor. Never had the disappearing apps, etc. So, this was a thumbs down.
