How do I turn OFF the repeat text message alert?

u cant but as long as u read ur txts u will be fine it will stop, its just there to tell u u have txts not read, but if its continuing after u have read them then thats a problem no idea what u do then

I agree that this is annoying, but I have read many threads, before the update, on this forum from people who couldn't believe that the iphone did not keep alerting you.

I agree, I HATE this feature. There doesn't seem to be a way to turn it off. UGH.

I really LIKE the feature, I have been in the shower and come out to hear my phone beep, I would have missed it the first time.

However, I do agree, an option to turn it off would be nice.

Just read them right away. It will not repeat. I kinda like this feature!

This is a very nice feature that I was always upset that the iPhone didnt have. Every other phone I have ever owned you could set how many times it alerted you about a new/unread text. But the iPhone has lacked that feature since 1st gen release. Say your at work but your busy, you get a text and no time to check it, forget about the text, and it turns out to be your wife telling you to pick up 12 lemons on your way home from work so that she can make a beautiful lemon table decoration and you forgot to read the message... man your in trouble all cause your iPhone only told you once...

I can see how someone at Apple thought this was a good idea, however not being able to turn it OFF is really annoying. Hey, there might be a REASON why I'm not running to my iPhone immediately to read a text message.

i personally like it but i totally understand people hating it there are a few threads on here about it, i dont understand why apple didnt just put an option to turn it off its bizarre, they dont seem to like people having a choice like putting MMS on the iphone and the person who doesnt want MMS they should be allowed to turn it off and us who want it keep it on, it seems its all or nothing with apple

i love the feature my sis has a nokia and she has a light that keeps flashing until she reads her txts i always wanted something similar im pleased we have it but i do think u should allowed to turn it off

I think the feature is good...they need to add it to a missed call and new voicemail too. They should also add an option to turn off the reminder.

Do you ever get the feeling that apple cannot win - there were loads of threads from people complaining that this was not a function originally so of course now there are going to be loads of people annoyed that it is a feature now -


how about informing apple though their feedback page otherwise they wont know that some of us do want to be able to turn this feature off

i agree they cant win i personally like it so i think people should just send feedback..but i doubt they will change it for awhile as it was made like that and it isnt a bug

Uh, they can win. Just make it optional. Don't force one setting or the other on all users.

Please make this optional... I can see the message preview without actually going into the phone. I wish it would stop alerting me! Terribly annoying!
