iTunes cannot read content of iPod Nano

I have a Mac OS X (10.4.2) computer running iTunes 6.0.1 (3). I have bought two iPods, the new video iPod 60GB and the iPod Nano. The Nano worked fine, until I updated the software for th iPod video, which updated my iTunes. Now I get a message, "iTunes cannot read contents of the iPod Nano. Use the iPod Software Updater application to restore the iPod to factory settings."

What is it talking about? I have updated the iPod software with the latest version "iPod updater 2005-10-12".

Any thoughts on how to resolve this so I can use both iPod's?

That message is asking you to restore the iPod software, which completely resets the iPod nano to its initial state.

Even though you have previously updated the iPod, it could be that some parts of the iPod software have become corrupted, which is why iTunes cannot work with it. Re-run the Updater and choose the Restore option.
