MacBook Pro Display Problems with Parallels Desktop: Windows Vista Business

Hey everyone,

One of the problems that I have been encountering with parallels desktop are flickering, laggy display problems (on vista). Whenever I open a window, or pretty much do nothing at all, my display goes berserk and flickers black, or meshes with other parts of my desktop. I ran a diagnostic tool test with DirectX and it said that I lack a WQHL driver (Windows Quality Hidden Labs). I tried to download it off of internet explorer and it said that I didn't have the software to download this, so the service automatically terminated. I have Windows Vista - Business 32bit on my pc (as the virtual machine). Can someone please help me? This has been kinda of frustrating to deal with myself. 😟

Hi and welcome to Discussions,

although this sounds mor like a Parallels problem which should be asked in the Parallels Forum, here are my guesses:

Which version of Parallels do you use ?
There were reports of older Parallels versions with difficulties with Leopard.

Have you installed the Parallels Tools ?
These Tools contain all the neccessary drivers for running Windows.

Regards

Stefan

Hi,

to my knowledge you have to install the Parallels Tools from within the Virtual Machine after you have installed Windows.

At least that's why I have always done.

Also when updating the Parallels Desktop app itself, it is recommended to de-install the Tools from with the VM prior to doing the update and after the update re-install the (then new) Tools from within the VM.
