iTunes 8 says my computer Not Authorized

2 Days after updating (Downdating?) to iTunes 8 whatever I want to watch, I get a prompt saying my computer is Not Authorized to view this Item. I then get a prompt to key in my Apple Password to authorize the computer again, I Re-Authorize the computer but it won't unlock the content. All I see is a grey screen, sometimes sound but no video. I have a great deal of video content and no way to watch it. This goes for the older videos as well as the newer ones. Can Anyone help.

I tried EVERYTHING with this same problem. Spent hours trying Apple's suggestions, including:

1. delete SC Info folder (didn't work)
2. uninstall and reinstall iTunes (didn't work)
3. re-download a few tracks (didn't work)
4. disable Genius (didn't work for long)

What DID work was this:

Quit iTunes, find your user preferences folder and delete every file with a name beginning com.apple.iTunes. There may be up to about 6 of them. Restart.

If you can't find them, try using Spotlight or whatever the Windows equivalent is to search your hard drive for com.apple.iTunes.

Hi,

Your problem sounds very similar to one I've just solved.

Part of my problem is that I have two iTunes accounts.

It turns out that iTunes 8 has a bug where it is mistaken about which account songs were purchased with. I eventually worked this out by examining my purchasing history.

So when you try to play a song, and iTunes asks you to enter the password for a particular account - it might be asking about the wrong account!

The obvious solution is to try all your account names and passwords if you get stuck in the authorization loop.

Hope this works for you.

Regards,
Damian

Hi Everyone. I had this exact same problem with authorising and I followed the advice from the iTunes store

Upgrade to the latest software (for me that meant 8.0.1 although I have seen some posts saying this has not been successful for everyone - fine for me (exception see below))

Then follow instructions in
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389?locale=en_GB

This worked for me.

Oh - and that exception? Since updating to 8.0.1, using command-T invokes the visualiser - in the iTunes window ONLY! I then have to use command-F to get full screen as before. A bug? A pain for sure? A show stopper? No.

Good luck

Well, I've tried everything in that particular document multiple times. It used to be I could finally get my purchased music to play on my computer / onto my iPod after completely restoring both iTunes and the iPod every single night, but it's safe to say that, starting yesterday, this solution is no longer working and nothing I do will help me play my music - all I get is that authorize popup window, and authorizing does absolutely nothing. I've sent an email to Apple, so until I hear, I'm stuck. I really hope someone has a radical solution I can try...

Cheers,
Dagra7
