Ethernet connector doesn't snap into port

I have a quick question about the ethernet port on the MacBook I just purchased a week ago:

On my older MacBook, a standard ethernet cable snapped firmly into the ethernet port. On the new laptop, it doesn't snap. It just seems to rest loosely in the port, and the connection doesn't seem secure. (I haven't tested the connection yet to see if it's live.) Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

MacBook 2.1 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Mac OS X (10.5.4)
