Why can't I "Turn Off Shuffle", under "Shuffle?"

I can shuffle by songs, by albums and by groupings, but I can't select "Turn Off Shuffle" at the top of the list. (Located under the "Content" menu.) Why? It seems that it should be so simple.

I'm using the latest iteration of iTunes.

It's a small thing I know, but it's driving me crazy! Can anyone help?

I am having exactly the same problem, and its really getting to me...I can't even find a shuffle setting within the preferences file to manually change it to off.

I'm using iTunes 8.0.1 on Windows XP

No they're NOT writing about the ipod, you may have noticed them saying they are using itunes for windows and they can't turn shuffle off.

Coincidentally I can't turn off shuffle in i-tunes either, and am using version 8.0.2.20 clicking on "turn off shuffle" won't actually select it, it'll just leave it set to whatever shuffle setting it is on.

It is interesting to note that if you click on "turn off shuffle" it sometimes will turn shuffle off, but it won't have it marked as such in the control menu.

The shuffle option is in Controls>Shuffle and then the first option you have is Turn off shuffle/Turn on shuffle.

IF YOU SEE THAT IT'S WRITTEN "TURN OFF SHUFFLE" THAT MEANS THAT IT'S ON. YOU CLICK IT ONCE AND IT'LL MAGICALLY CHANGE TO "TURN ON SHUFFLE" WHICH MEANS THAT IT'S ALREADY TURNED OFF.

It does work, it's just that in the latest version of itunes, it doesn't have the little check mark next to it saying if it's on or off.

Why can't I "Turn Off Shuffle", under "Shuffle?"
