Bellsouth (ATT) won't send e-mail...

New i-phone is wonderful, a true marvel to behold..
Just one kink and I'll be set... Bellsouth e-mail will receive beautifully...
But cannot sent e-mails at all...
It churns for a while then says it can't connect to outgoing mail server..
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Assuming Bellsouth is your internet service provider and if Bellsouth does not have an authenticated SMTP server, you will only be able to send with this account when connected to a wi-fi network with Bellsouth as the ISP for the wi-fi connection.

When connected via AT&T's cellular network, you can use AT&T's SMTP server for the account, which can be selected via the account preferences on your iPhone.

This is a deal breaker! I have an iTouch and I have to be able to send emails from remote locations. I could do it from the Bellsouth website but come on, getting around on a website with an iTouch is hard enough with out having to type in emails to send...
Real bummer...and time to change providers if need be. If anyone has a workaround I would love to know.
