Iphone supports bluetooth for headsets and handsfree telephone functions/devices only - no file transfer, streaming music, etc.

My first reply, joined today. I was also wondering why my iPhone would not synch using bluetooth with my partners phone, bit of a swiz I think. Was not told this when I bought it from the Apple store. Shame we can't exchange photos with friends.

Did you ask if the phone had bluetooth, or did you ask if the phone could transfer files via Bluetooth? I am pretty sure that if you asked about file transfer over bluetooth, you would have been told that the phone only supports hands-free bluetooth.

This has been the case since the original and 3G launched; no mystery here.

Not that it matters; it's hardly news that a salesman might lie or open his mouth about a subject he has no information on; but both me and a buddy, talking to two different salesman, were told that we COULD connect to our old phones to get the contacts transferred.

    They lied.

hello folks! does this mean that since the iPhone could not transfer files via bluetooth, other bluetooth enabled cellphones cannot pair with the iPhone? my trusty old nokia "found" iPhone's bluetooth, but cannot pair with the iPhone...it asked "passcode for iPhone", which i had no idea what it was...
    help?
    thanks

This definitely works. The iPhone 3G can pair with the Z9 headset.

Make sure the Z9 is not connected with any other phone and is in idle mode.

Have the bluetooth turned ON, on the iPhone (Settings/General/bluetooth)

Reset the Z9 by pressing + and - and multifunction Button (with the ant on it)

The iPhone will pickup the headset in the bluetooth settings. Select the headset and type in 0000 as the pin.

    All done.
