Will cases made for the 5G iPod also fit the Classic?

I have an existing 5G iPod with video (80GB). I have a very cool case made by iSkin which I would like to use with the iPod Classic (160GB) that I am about to buy. Will it fit?

Ordinarily, I'd buy an iSkin Classic case, but they don't appear to be as good as the case I already have.

iMac Core 2 Duo, Mac OS X (10.5.4)

the 160GB 6th.Gen classic has been replaced by the newest 120GB.

The 160GB can still be found until sold out for $300. Or maybe he's buying it off someone.

HOWEVER to the OP, 5 gen. cases, unless they are soft cloth cases, probably will not fit properly. The silicone on the iSkin MAY stretch to fit, but the fit may not be exact. I had a case made mostly of stretch cloth material that was for the 5 gen. and it worked on the 6 gen. However the fit was still a little off-centered and it made the touch control a little wonky. I finally got 6 gen. case and the touch controls are now fine since the iPod is centerd in it properly.

I believe the 80GB 5.5 Gen and the 160GB 6 Gen have roughly the same measurements. I remember I was going to buy a 160 myself and I was curious to know if my soft Apple case would fit it, and I'm pretty sure that it would. If not, you can always force it in. :P

The only problem is the touch control and screen may be a little off(not by much though, as in my case) unless you jiggle the case a little to fit. I do think it's easier to "force it in" with soft cases. But 160GB cases should all be going on sale since technically Apple has discontinued it, so try finding a deal somewhere. I got my case for $15 when it should have been $30.

Yes, I am aware that the 160GB Classic has been replaced by the 120GB one. And I don't particularly care; I need all the space I can get. I may have to get a used/refurbished model, but I'm not settling for anything under the maximum.

(What the frak was the problem with the 160GB, anyway? Did they just not sell enough of them?)

As for cases: Guess I should just see if the old case fits first. Ordinarily I wouldn't be too concerned, since I've always stood behind iSkin's products. But their Classic cases really seem to fall short of the mark. They don't make a Classic case that's in any way like the one they made for my 5G iPod.

Addendum: I have done some Googling and Amazonning and it seems that cases made for the iPod Classic will also fit the 5G iPod with Video and vice versa. (i.e. those made for the 80GB 5th gen iPod will fit the 160GB Classic, and those for the 30GB 5th gen iPod will fit the 120GB new Classic)

One word of warning: Apparently iSkin's eVo3 was the last decent one. I've heard bad things about the eVo4.
