how to uninstall vsts....?

hi
ive installed a few vsts to use in logic pro, some worked , some didnt.

one worked, and then when i added some more, i get au error message on the one that worked. strange.

so i want to uninstall some of them. but they are not listed in my applications list. and there is no specific uninstaller, i think.

i also have appcleaner and appzapper, and they dont seem to pick them up either.

i think the problem started when i installed and scanned system with vst to AU adaptor. ive read the manual for the adaptor, but there is no mention of how to uninstall it. how do i?? its not listed in the apps list. the actual app is residing on its own on my main internal hard drive.

also can i use time machine to put logic pro back to a previous state? i have old backups. but i dont know if i can choose logic pros state specifically to say 2 weeks ago, and it just restores logic(and leaves everthing else intact) is this possible???
i dont want to lose any tracks that i have made though, and template i have made, and sampler instrument i have made in exs24.

thanks

If you browse to HD > Library > Audio > Plug-Ins > Components, you should find files suffixed .component. Drag the ones you don't want to the trash and empty.

If you're concerned that the installers put other files on your HD you could spotlight search the names of the plug-ins. That way you can see what's been installed.

Caution don't trash you don't understand without backing up first.

By the way the plug-in format for Logic is AU ( audio unit ) not Vst.

Hi Bob,

Some of the VST's that are wrapped to AU will fail the AU validation. That does not necessarily mean that they won't work, you can (try) use them anyway.
Au plugins are in the Audio>plugins folder (both in the /Library/Audio folder and the /Users/"You"/Library/Audio folder) as are VST's (that need to be there for the VST to AU wrapper). If you just create a folder 'unused plugs', you can drag the offenders into it - but you can also use the AU manager in Logic.
No need for Time-Machine extremeties in this case.

regards, Erik.

yeah some failed validation on logics part(when i boot up logic), and just freese on one, i just abort and go ahead anyway, and the vst is working fine. so people just ignore these errror messages on bootup and carry on? bit annoying, but i guess its ok.

so AU and VST plugins reside in two locations. good to know.
use the AU manager in logic? how and what for?

yeah no need for time machine yet.

To enable or disable plugins - if one or more of the non-validated ones are crashing Logic, for instance... I have about six nonvalidated plugs that I use occasionally. I disable them just to avoid the annoying, nondisableable (new word!) warning about them when Logic starts up.

good to know, ill try it all later on today. thanks.
so if i disable a plug in in AU manager, when i boot up logic agian, it wont come with the error about it?

but refx nexus was fine for weeks. only when i installed fx adapter and scanned etc. logic give error message about nexus. but nexus still works. i even quit the adaptor.

thanks, ill try all the things you guys say.
