Agere lucent Chipset and Imac

Hello
I ve being an apple user for many years, neadles to say that i do think this is as good as it gets in computers.
I also produce music, and i use a sound card that is as mac is for computers, as good as it gets.

I change to an Imac, mainly to simplify my set up and because the new ones have processors that make the ideal for sound editing.

Am very annoid there is a compatibility issue betweem the Agere lucent FW chips and the RME Fireface 400 sound card.
The problem is that there is no way to hook the card direct to the imac,it just doesent recognise it......It does work if used on a daisy chain through a FW400 hard drive, but and also doing a PRAM and SMC reset(dont ask me why,but without that it doesent work).....some people had success just by using a 9 to 6 pin FW cable(FW800 to FW400) not my case

There is many post to this issue in the rme forums, ther is also plenty of imac users that are having problems on this forum, hard drives that dont work and many other FW devices...tgis is being going on for a couple of years, no solution.....

Am really hurt to say that on this issue Apple is behaving like microsoft, this is the tipical windows issue, things that dont get resolved for months, years...this is not like apple, i agree that there is also another two companies involved on this issue RME and the makers of the infamous Lucent/Agere chip....Apple being the biggest company should take the lead on this issue once and for all and fix it

here is a loink to the rme forums so you can see the amount of apple users having the exact same problem....

thanks

Imac core 2 duo 2,4 GHZ(Imac 8,1), Mac OS X (10.5.4), RME Fireface 400(Sound Card)
