Problem connecting to iTunes Store

I keep getting a message that iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store - Make sure your network connection is active and try again. This happens every time I try to click on Genius

This started off immediately after I upgraded to V8.0 this morning. There is no problem with my internet connection - I am able to browse and access this site and do all the other wonderful things people do on the net - it is just iTunes that seems to have problems working with my network connection.

Any ideas good people

iTunes just died right in the middle of a download of a few episodes of a show I was downloading. And now I cannot connect to my iTunes account at all.

Every other aspect of the store works besides purchasing and checking my iTunes Account for purchases. I've ran the diagnostic and i'm all green. It says I should be able to connect to the store just fine. I've also tried restarting my computer and creating a new location in my network preferences. Nothing has worked.

Killing me here...
