Unknown error 0xE800002E) while installed app from iTunes

I have had this problem for months. I cannot install new applications or application updates from iTunes to my iPhone 3G. This morning was another example: I tried to update the AIM application--as iTunes had detected there was one available. It appeared fine, but we all know that iTunes doesn't actually complete the installation until after a sync (which is dumb by the way).

Upon the first sync, I received the following error:

The application "AIM" was not installed on the iPhone "Montek's iPhone" because an unknown error occurred (0xE800002E).

This happens repeatedly. The only workaround I have found so far is to completely remove the application and reinstall it but this is TOTALLY frustrating. Please help!

Software Version: 2.1
iTunes Version: 8.0.0.35

Dell, Windows XP Pro, iPhone 3G
