New iPod randomly skipping songs

I got a new iPod classic 120GB, replacing my old 60gb. I loaded it up with my songs and stuff, and started using it, but after a while it skipped to next song halfway through a song. This happened a few times, and once the ipod even restarted itself (after displaying a low quality 8bit colour apple logo image). I then restored my iPod, and checked for latest software, and it seemed to be better for a while, but it just skipped a song again.

I'm pretty sure all the song files are mp3, but maybe some AACs. Songs that skipped played fine other times. iPod hasn't been dropped since I got it... I guess I have to take it to an apple center for warranty... Does anyone elses new 120GB skip songs?

Thanks
Rodger

Yep. This is my second one in a week. I'm trying to listen to a compilation by Boyz II Men and it's driving me crazy because not a single song will play the whole way through. The first one did this for a day and then just shut down totally so I took it back to the store. I look at the screen. It says the song is 3:32 long and 1 min or less in the thing skips to another song. I'm going to return it today, pick up a 3rd one and if the same thing happens I'm just going to get a refund. This is ridiculous. I never had this problem with the older version.

I have a 120GB iPod Classic and I experience the same problem. It will skip to the next song after a few seconds. If I go back to the song I scroll/fast forward to a later point in the song, it will play. I have tried deleting the songs from the iTunes Librabry and then adding them back and I have restored the iPod once and I still have the same problem. The songs play normally in iTunes and on every other device (between my wife and me have an iPhone 3G, 5.5 Gen iPod Video, 5th Gen iPod Video and 4th Gen iPod photo) except the new 7th Gen 120GB.

IPOD Skip song RANDOMLY.. sometimes canplay 2-3 or 4 songs complete then it skip while plaing the 5th song. Sometimes it skip while just play first song sometimes can play nearly end of album but skip while playing track 9....it RAMDOMLY...

All File Complete can play on PC and even on Ipod(in case i re-play it again after skipping)

RESET RESTORED RE-RIP is NOT HELP

*but the only Solution i've found is..... "Don't Use COVER FLOW feature"...It's works!!*

I'm getting skipping left and right on my new 160gig classic and I'm fed up. It doesn't seem to matter whether I'm playing an mp3 or AAC file, whether it was downloaded from iTunes or Emusic, pirated, or ripped off a CD. It's completely frustrating and has me wishing I still had my old 80GB classic (or even a Zune gasp!)

My best theory is that the Pod's resources are being allocated too heavily to maintain all the flashy eye candy Apple built into this latest edition. Forget reflective album art, forget scrolling album covers, forget stupid icons informing me which part of the menu I'm in, just play my damned music without skipping! If I wanted eye candy, I would've bought an iPod touch. I just want what Apple is famous for: fantastic products with awesome build quality! What happened? This is as bad as the mobile me fiasco!

I have the same skipping problem with my new 120gb. I am willing to wait for a firmware update before I try to have my iPod replaced.

To everyone having the same problem, I suggest you send Apple feedback so they start noticing us

Well I took my iPod to the apple shop for replacement and (after 2-3 weeks, it was engraved...) I got a new one that works perfectly!

Considering apple.com.au sent me my engraved iPod within days of ordering, I'd say 2-3 weeks for a replacement is kinda slack... And not only that but the new one's laser engraving is off center! It's like there were a few spaces after my name when they typed it...

If you can get a refund and then reorder a new one I recommend that procedure over warranty replacement, particularly if your iPod's engraved.

Iv had my 120GB Classic since early September when they came out and iv noticed that it skips on a few song s but not many, though I do tend to listen to the same small selection of music! In my experience it has skipped at the exact same point in a particular song. as someone else has said on here, i can fast search through the song past that point and it will play the rest no problem. its like there is a speciffic marker in the song that it doesn't like. Pretty stupid if you ask me!

However, it happened to a Lost Prophets album first and the only way i found round it was to re-record the album in and its worked fine since. But since then iv found more songs that do it. Its really frustrating!!!!

I might look at taking it back then as i thought it was just my music. I didn't realise anyone else was having the same problems!

We shall see...
