Make program available to all users on the dock

Is that Application in the root Application folder, or one of the User's Application folders?

For all to use it needs to be in the root one, then from an Admin account, do a Get Info on it & adjust the Privileges as needed.

Double click on the hard drive icon. Open the Applications folder that you see along with Library, Users, System, etc. Move the program to the Applications folder. Log into each account and drag and drop the app into the Dock to create a shortcut to it there.

I just explained it. You drag and drop the application itself from the Applications folder onto the Dock. I think what you're missing is that the item on the Dock is only a link to where the program actually resides. Also, changing the Dock in one user account does not change the Dock for every user on that Mac. It only changes the Dock for the user account you are currently in. That includes Admin or root. One Dock, one change.

That is not practical to log-in to each account to add the program to all of their docks!

There is no other way. Each Dock in each user account needs to be have the application dragged to it from where the application is in order to add it to the Dock.

I don't see how. The contents of the Dock are held in the Dock's preferences of the user account you are currently logged in to. If you change the Dock's settings, only that user account's preference file will change.

I've tried to find anything on the web to see how you could have possibly done this before, but found nothing. I'll see if anyone else can lend a hand.

Download and install the Server Admin Tools, open the Workgroup Manager in the /Applications/Server/ folder, log in with 127.0.0.1 or the server's IP as the address and an administrator login, select all the accounts, click on Preferences in the top, choose Dock, choose Once under Manage, add the program to the list at the top, verify that the 'Merge with user's Dock' box is checked, and click on the Apply Now button.

And there it is! I should have know Niel would have the answer.

It could also be done with a UNIX command via Apple Remote Desktop. I don't have the specific command at this workstation to add an application to a user's Dock, but it's been discussed in the ARD forum before, if memory serves, and probably could also be found on the web somewhere.
