I don't remember my imac mail password. I cannot use my mail without the password. How can I reset the password?

imac, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

Mail doesn't have any password of it's own. So far I can remember, in Tiger when you first start Mail it asks you a password and that password is your .mac password. If you don't have any .mac account create a trial one at http://www.apple.com/mobileme/ which is now mobileme. Even after the trial period you can use the account with iChat, so this is not a bad idea.
If you don't want to get .mac account, try accessing Mail Preferences, if necessary put something in the password field to get rid of the password window. Once you get to the Mail Preferences delete the .mac account in the 'Account' tab and add new account that you like to set up.
