g4 with 10.3 and new iphone

Help.. there has to be a work around for this. I have the new iphone and an old mac g4 with 10.3.9 and i cannot get my itunes off of this... is the only way to get my music is to either upgrade... which is generally really expensive OR... transfer all my music to someone else computer and then get it off of that???

isnt there someway on itunes to send my music to the itunes cyber space and get it off of there..???

iPhone 3G requires iTunes 7 or iTunes 8 (with Leopard 10.5) installed. You would have to upgrade the OS on your system to have compatibility with your iPhone.

The only work around(s) are to either transfer all your iTunes content to a compatible Mac or PC then sync your iPhone with that or to get a more up to date Mac with Leopard installed. You could then use the migration assistant to transfer your data to the new system.

The requirements for the iPhone 3G are Mac OS X v10.4.10 or later and iTunes 7.7 or later (necronym is incorrect - 10.5 Leopard is not required - I am on 10.4.11 and iTunes 8, personally).

You cannot run under 10.3, so you will need to load you music on another computer with at least 10.4.10, or upgrade your G4. Even though Tiger is no longer available from the Apple Online Store, if you call Apple Phone Sales they will sell you the Tiger upgrade (same pricing as Leopard, though, so if your G4 meets the minimum specs for Leopard, that would work too).
