Mini disc to Ipod nano

Hi,

This sounds very wrong. The iPod doesn't provide a port for music in except the USB or Firewire (Model dependent) port for connecting to your computer.

So the only way to put music on the iPod is through a computer connection.

What format are the songs on your computer stored in? I though Sony used ATRAC. If so you will need to find an ATRAC to mp3 converter before importing your songs into iTunes. (Don't know if this exists)

iTunes is the ONLY way to get music into your iPod. iTunes will work with mp3 and a few other formats but Sony's ATRAC is not one of them. Seems these guys have their own standards.

I transferred a number of songs from my MiniDisc collection into iTunes using Griffin Technologies iMic. Worked great. You can see and research the device on their web site (www.griffintechnology.com)

Line out on MD player to iMic input. iMic converts analog to digital stream and puts it on the USB to your computer. There are a number of pieces of software that can capture the USB stream to your computer and save it to disk. Then use iTunes to import the song files and you are set.

The wire from the MD to the iMic is a standard stereo adapter cable from the output of the MD to the input of the iMic - you can get one at any electronics store.

I am not familiar with the MZ-NH600D player, but it appears to have a mini stereo phone (headphone) jack. You would need a mini-stereo plug (male) to mini-stereo plug (male) cable. If you are using the sonicstage software supplied with the unit, and you are capable of burning a cd, you may be able to just burn your MD's to CD disk, then import them to iTunes.

Please look at this link for more information on converting MD files to PC files through the analog output of the MD player. If done correctly, the loss of audio fidelity is minimal.

For future reference, it sounds like you've probably got WMV-DRM on your minidisc files. If you ripped CDs you own using WMP, check your settings. It can be adding that by default, which greatly restricts what you can do with your files.
