Moving music from another mp3 player

I have a different mp3 player with a large library of music acquired from various sources. I just received an ipod nano as a gift. Is there any way to transfer my music from my old player to the ipod? I paid good money for my library and I hate to lose it!

Kenny,
Welcome to the discussions.

Unless someone here as specific knowledge of that mp3 player (which you would need to post here) you'll probably need to find another source for that info. Once you get the files onto your computer, you shouldn't have too much trouble. However, since this is an iPod forum, we can tell you how to get music off an iPod, but other mp3 players are out of our realm of knowledge.

Try google.

Welcome to the forums!

iTunes is the only way I know of to get songs into your new iPod. SO the trick is to get your old libraru into iTunes.

So you have to know what format they are in now. Maybe WMA or mp3. iTunes works well with mp3 and I think it can convert non-protected WMA as well so you have to find a way to get the files into a format that will work.

Once you have a method you can just drag the files into iTunes and it will do the rest.
