* When you plug your ipod into your PC, your unit should appear in the devices section.
* When it does, click that and you should see the summary screen for your ipod appear.
* Scroll down and find the "Manually manage music and videos" check box. Check this and confirm your choice.
* Then, go back to your ipod entry under Devices in the tree view and left-click the mouse over the little right-arrow symbol to expand this item. You should then see the contents of your ipod (play lists).
* Click the music list. The songs on your ipod should appear in the list view to the right of the tree view.
* Then delete whatever songs you don't want. This deletes them from your ipod but not from your ITunes library.

Beware however that when you manually manage your music on the ipod, and then you subsequently resume normal syncing operations, any changes you made on the ipod will be lost.

Hope this helps.

Sorry but what you said to try didn't work at all. i stilli'm getta screen pop up with my ipod picture askingme to clickon the shuffle box and it willdownload songs on to myipod for me i can't seem to be able to see the list of songs that are on my ipod unit so that i can delete some of the songs i do not wnat on there any more.I used to be able to plug my ipod unit in the USB port on computer and it would recognize My Ipod unit and lsit the song right awy that was downloaded onb the ipod But since I have down loaded iTunes 8 it doesn't do that any more.I hate the New itunes 8 i wished I had never update to it. I liked the older 7.7 iTunes alot better and it was so much easier to use. Apple should give us a choice to go back to the older iTunes 7.7 if we want.I think they got in big hurry to get itunes 8 out for us to update to and it has alot of bugs in it like windows ME had.it does work good at all. I'm very disappointed.

I am also having trouble connecting Itunes8 to my airtunes network.

The error code I get is -3256 unknown error (while connecting to the remote speaker.

I tried setting the ipv thing under TCP, but this did not help. I am not using a software firewall so cannot adjust this setting. I am using a Dlink Router.

However the problem is in connecting to the remote speakers that does not use my dlink router, it is a direct connection to the
