iPhone stopped syncing with iTunes, but...

My iPhone stopped syncing with iTunes. But every time I plug it in it wants to download the photos. So I'm not sure what the problem is. The last back-up was the Sept. 14. There was an update since then. Not sure if that is the problem. I have the second release of the phone and it's running 2.1. Any advise would be very helpful.
