I want to connect Airport Express to my Internet in my dorm?

I just bought Airport Express and I am unable to get it to connect to the internet. I want to be able to just plug in an Ethernet cable into the Airport Express and have it work wirelessly with my computer. How do I do this?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.5), Leopard

Does the IT support at your dorm/school allow you to connect your own wireless router?

If so, follow the steps you described. Connect an Ethernet cable from the wall to your AirPort Express (AX).

I did all of that but it never picked up the internet or server. Can you try and tell me step by step of what to do? I don't really know what to pick when they ask some of the setup questions.
