Logic 8.0.2 Will Not Convert My SF2 to EXS. Any suggestions? Please Help!

I have tried everything. I put the soundfonts (SF2) in /Library/Application Support/Logic/Sampler Instruments. I tried in both the user and the system libraries numerous times. AKAI discs convert fine to EXS but not SF2. The soundfonts play fine in GarageBand though but not Logic. I am using Logic Pro 8.0.2; please help me!

Hi Bee Jay,

did you know you are two animals?

I don't think all new (or even seasoned) users are familiar with this unix syntax. I always use the full syntax as you used to explain the tilde.
I didn't know either, and I would have 'assumed' that the tilde stood for 'your startup disk'. Good to know though. Thanks.

Hi iKenj,

ehhh, maybe obvious, but do the have the .sf2 suffix? Sometimes not having that can make the difference - or perhaps the OS X or EXS sees them as Garageband files, maybe you could change the file type and/or -creator. Make them the same as EXS instruments... o, and if they show up in the EXS, it is in the 'Factory' subfolder.

For now I am out of options...

No it's not like that. GarageBand doesn't convert the SoundFonts to EXS. It runs them as is in the SF2 format.

I just tried a .sf2 conversion and it worked as it has in the past, years ago I purchased PROteus modules 1,2, & 3 from Creative/EMU is .sf2 format then converted them to EXS. This time I tried a legato string sample, conversion sounds good.

I did have to close and reopen Logic to get the SF to appear in the EXS sample list, when chosen it converts quickly.

Some things to look at:

-Open the EXS24 in Stereo mode
-Audio Interface working properly, other AUi play correctly.
-EXS Virtual Memory active (checkbox selected)

From my experience... either location works, in fact my root /Library/Application Support/Logic/Sampler Instruments folder is on a separate partition and I use an alias to the above location, seems to work just fine.

However, I would definitely tries Bee Jay's suggestion (User/Library...) as you have nothing to lose at this point.
