Yes.. Under Settings -> Fetch New Data change it to something other then Manually.. Also under the advanced button you may need to set you mail account to Fetch.. If the mail account you are using supports push you can turn that on as well from these screens..

HOWEVER this still might not work for you if you are are 2.1.. 2.1 Broke the schedule fetch for a lot of people, including myself.. When will it be fixed.. Only Apple knows..

Every 15 Minutes
Every 30 Minutes
Hourly
Manually
