Dymo Discpainter offline problems

Question

Dymo Discpainter offline problems

Greetings, all.

I'm having the same 'offline' problems with my Dymo Discpainter as others have reported with Brother and HP. (It's for printable DVDs...it's a pretty nice machine.)

Anyway, it's connected directly to my iMac via USB, and is now always 'offline'.

I see there's been an update for HP. What about less common printers, like, say, the Discpainter? 🙂

John: Thanks. Solved the 'offline' problem, but now all print jobs show up as 'stopped' and nothing I do can get them going again.

I do find this message though:

error from cupsRasterInterpretPPD

Any thoughts?

Rick, can you please post more of the cups error_log? It sounds like CUPS doesn't like the Dymo ppd being used. Is it possible to switch to another ppd? Maybe talking with Dymo will provide a quicker solution.

John: Thanks for your response. I fear you're asking question beyond my capabilities to respond!

But I have email Dymo's support folks for a response.

In the meantime, I'm using an old Mac laptop (running 10.4) and it is printing fine.

Hello,
what worked for me is this:
- Quit Disc painter.
- Unplug the discpainter: USB and Power.
- Plug the discpainter in another power outlet or slot on the power strip
- Replug USB
- Relaunch Disc painter
and it should work.

In my case, I always unplug the discpainter after I am done printing.
I have the feeling that Discpainter "idles" the power coming in in you don't use it for a while . Sounds silly but when I unplugged-replugged in another slot on my power strip, it worked.
