Using any dock with iPod nano

Yes, it does!

But personally I don't think I'm gonna use my iPod Photo dock with it. I think with extended docking and undocking it could loosen up the connector on the dock, as there's a bit of sway when the nano is docked.

Would've been nice if they actually included a dock adapter that actually fits existing docks!

Yes, it'll fit on the old dock, but if you use FireWire to connect, it will not sync (although it will charge the battery). It syncs only with USB.

it seems too wide long ways and hence the nano won't fit with it floating on top so now charging bare with support of tissues.
am i not being firm enough or at the right angle with the adaptor or is it something else best guess cheers

Sorry, should have been clearer - the Nano fits onto the connector in the old docks - the adaptor is for third party stuff like the JBL On Stage so they can use just one interface and use various adapters for various iPod models.
