How do I actually delete cookies? (I know it sounds stupid, please respond)

This is what I get when I click on help and look up how to remove them:

Websites often store cookies on your hard disk. Cookies help websites identify you when you return so the site can show you pages appropriate for you.

Cookies are normally harmless, but sometimes people want to remove one or more cookies.

IMPORTANT: Changing your cookie preferences or removing cookies may cause similar changes in other applications.

To remove cookies:


Choose Safari > Preferences.


Click Security.


Click Show Cookies.


Select one or more cookies and click Remove, or click Remove All.


When you finish removing cookies, click Done.




But, I clicked on safari, then preferences and saw no tab for security.

Macbook, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

*Hi Hammer, Welcome (Back)* to Apple's Users Help Users Forums. 🙂

There is a *Toggle Switch* at the *upper right*. Click it and it will give you back all the places. As you know, select Security. If you were to hit the toggle again then Security would be the only one to show. Again, to see them all. 🙂 Easy when you know the trick. 🙂
