Airport 'unknown error occurred (-15000)'

Hi,

I have been happily using Airport connected to external speakers to listen to iTunes played on my computer in a different room. Today when I tried to connect from iTunes I was given an error:

An error occurred while connecting to the remote speaker 'xxx'. An unknown error occurred (-15000)

I have rebooted the Airport device but that doesn't seem to work.

Any suggestions most appreciated?

Thanks

I have the same problem too. It's been working fine since I bought the AE in August, but tonight I cannot get it to stream music at all, and it comes up with the -15000 error.

I've rebooted both my iMac and the AE, switched Airtunes off and back on again, configured my Network and Firewall settings as per the instructions on http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2278, but still nothing.

I don't think it's iTunes 8 (in my case) as I've had that installed since it came out and I've used Airtunes since then.

Apple, is there a fix in the works for this?

Thanks.

There's something weird going on with this. It played the songs in a playlist earlier, and after it stopped and I went to play another playlist, it came up with the error message again. I did nothing except hit play in iTunes.

I came back to the computer a few minutes ago and again it gave the error when I clicked play. I tried it again on the off-chance and it started working.

Is there a chance I have a faulty Airport Express?

Okay, I've found that changing the 'Configure IPv6' setting to Off (and applying the changes) works.

This is found in System Preferences -> Network -> Airport -> Advanced... -> TCP/IP

This contradicts the instructions in http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2278 which advises to make sure it's set to Automatically. When set to Automatically, I find it works maybe once in every 10 attempts. At least I know it's not my AE that's broken.

However, do you need IPv6 set to Automatically for anything else?

OK I have a new one for everyone

I have the setup below and if I reboot the Mac open itunes and select multiple speakers and first select computer, whichever set of remote speakers I choose first will work OK, if I choose the second set I get the error -15000. I have done all the firewall and TCP/IP tricks discussed above but to no avail. Help me - this is driving me mad

Mac Mini 10.5.5
2 x Airport Express firmware 7.3.2
itunes 8.0.2

I did use the following...

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2278

Although the settings were correct I turned them on and off anyway.

Then I rebooted the Express unit.

Lastly, it seems to have issues with "what order" you add the multiple speakers. I got the 15000 error and turned off the airport speakers. Then turned on the computer speakers then added the airport speakers. Worked...go figure.

**ADDED*** Forget I said much....when I changed tracked in iTunes it got the error again on the airport speakers. I really wish someone knew how to fix this 😟
