Hi all, I'm having difficulty getting my iphone to send emails using Cogeco service provider. I have no problem receiving email from my Cogeco account however whenever I try to send an email, I receive the error
"The connection to the outgoing server "smtp.cogeco.ca" failed."
The following are my settings for my outgoing server on the iphone:
Host Name: smtp.cogeco.ca User name: (my user id) Password : (my password) Use SSL : OFF Authentication: Password Server Port : 25
I've tried calling Cogeco tech support but they weren't very helpful apart from retelling me the info above.
I'm using the standard email application that came with the iphone.
Are you accessing this email account with an email client on your computer such as with Outlook or Outlook Express and if so, are you able to send messages with this account using the same SMTP server settings with the email client on your computer?
Yes, I'm using Windows Mail in Vista and have no problem sending or receiving emails with this account. I've tried to replicate all the server settings from Windows Mail on the iPhone and it's not working.. That's what's puzzling me!
Yes, many ISPs don't let you access their outgoing email servers (SMTP) unless you are on their network (at home). Using Rogers or ATT built in SMTP servers is the only way to get around this problem. It has no effect on your email address.
