Hi all,

I deactivated my iphone because my company issued me a new one. I want to wipe all data from my deactivated phone, but all i get is the emergency dial screen since its not activated. how can i erase this?

Thanks!

Call Apple or AT&T and ask them or bring the phone into the store. Will it show up in iTunes if you connect it? If so can you run a Restore to original?

I brought it to ATT and they didnt know how. it doesnt show up in itunes, it says "The phone cannot be used with iTunes because the information required for activation could not be obtained from the iPhone. Check that the SIM card is inserted in your iPhone and that it is not PIN-locked.".

    Try the following

    -Connect iPhone to PC/Mac

-Hold down the Home button & sleep/wake button together. Keep holding till you see a USB cable and iTunes logo.

Give it 20 seconds if iTunes does not show it, Disconnect and reconnect. Should now detect in recovery mode.

In the Summary screen you will have an option to restore iPhone. Restore it. But before doing this to prevent syncing to the phone when it is done perform the following really quick

Windows - In itunes go to Edit - Preferences - Devices - Disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods click the box and click ok. - Go back the same way and un-click it to turn it back to normal when the restore is all finished.

Mac - iTunes - Preferences - Devices - Disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods click the box and click ok. - Go back the same way and un-click it to turn it back to normal when the restore is all finished.

    Hope this helps
