Omnisphere install problem

I noticed another thread with this title, but the user had a different problem, so I figured my problem warranted a different thread.

I have installed Omnisphere three times, but the same thing keeps happening. After the install, I launch Logic and open an instance of Omnisphere. The very first patch I select shows the progress percentage reach 100%, then I get a popup error:

Cannot load SoundSource "blah, blah" from Directory Core Library. File "xxxx.zmap" may be missing or corrupted. Try refreshing the SoundSource Browser.

Questions:

1. Anyone else have this problem and solve it?
2. How do I refresh the SoundSource Browser?

Notes:

1. Before each resintall I did a search and deleted everything Omnisphere.
2. I am installing on an external drive - not enough space on the boot drive.
3. I am using a Dual G5, OS 10.4.11

Apple G5 dual 2ghz, Mac OS X (10.4.10)

I has the same thing happen. Try clicking on the Spetrasonics logo on the Omnisphere UI and it will take you to a credits page. In the upper left hand corner, there should be a button to check for updates.

Once you have the latest updates, which fix some patch problems like you are having, you should be fine.

I can't wait until they get the user manual finished.

It's funny, I don't think I'll be able to audition all of the sound sources before the next update. There are so darn many sound sources it' not even funny!

Yeah, that's what I thought initially, but I already downloaded the updates. But either way, I gave your directions a try, and I got a message on the launched web page that said everything was up to date.

Was hoping to solve this before I have to call them on Monday. I hear they've been so busy and lots of folks aren't getting return calls / emails, so I'm hoping that's different. Wanted to use this stuff on a project, but it's due Wednesday, so maybe not!

I had an issue installing yesterday as well. I put Omnisphere on my external drive in a folder called "Spectrasonics". 4 hours later after installation was done I went into Digital Performer 5.11 and Omnisphere wouldn't even show up. I checked the application support folder on my boot drive and the component was in fact there. So I then did what the guy on the video explained, and renamed the folder on my external drive "Spectrasonics Instruments", opened DP 5.11 and was able to open and authorize Omnisphere, but it couldn't locate the sounds... so I quit, and renamed the folder on the external drive "Spectrasonics" again, and everything was fine... I know that sounds wrong, and I did repair permissions a few times during this process anyway hope that helps!

I am so glad you wrote this here. I've been searching everywhere for someone else that had the problem of Omnisphere (installed on an external hd) not showing up in a host program. I didn't know what to do! My host program is Logic 8. I'm going to try this renaming of the folder, as Spectrasonics Instruments along with Repairing Permissions etc.. and see how far I can get!

Also, does anyone know if it's safe for me to trash the Intel Atmosphere Host Wrapper left over on my internal drive?

Also, if anyone well versed at Spectrasonics software is in the San Francisco area, and interested in being paid to teach me over-all usage techniques with Spectrasonics RMX and Omnisphere, I'll pay you for your time. Just send me a message through my profile here with how much you would charge per hour, or for a two hour session, etc...

I assume you're referring to the previous poster, but my problem is not seeing Omnisphere in Logic Pro 8. The plugin shows up fine... I just get an error message on a bunch of the patches when I try to load them. There are only a few that load and play.

I contacted Spectrasonics, but their only suggestion so far didn't resolve the issue.

I am starting to think the issue is related to installing directly to an 2nd drive. The problem is that I don't have enough space on my primary drive. But I think this weekend I will try to clean enough space and install it directly to the boot drive to see if that makes a difference.

Kinda of frustrating because they say you can install to a 2nd drive. But I'm hoping I hear back from them soon with a resolution. I don't hear back from them more than every other day, so I have to push them a little bit for a response.

Here's what fixed it:

Make sure your sound data sizes match the ones in the image above.

In my case, my internal DVD drive is hoaky. Cheap DVD laser. I hooked up an external DVD drive, via firewire, and drug the files that don't match the sizes in the image. In my case it was two: "Synthesizers 01.db" and "Retro 01.db" that wouldn't copy using my internal DVD drive.

Here's the source thread that addresses this:

H hope someone can help!!!!

Just got omnisphere put it on my imacs HD but kept getting system overload problems so i spoke with someone at our local apple store and they told me that despite plenty of space and 4gb of ram i should be putting omnisphere on my external drive which i've done - now when i launch omni. from logic 8 i get the omni. interface but it just says user and then i get the following message:

cannot open multi/user/nigelsmith/library/applicationsupport/spectrasonics/steam/defaults/d efault.mt_omn

I'm assuming it can't find the library or something - someone told me to try making aliases for the imacs hard drive but hasn't work yet

ps: i've also downloaded the latest updates from spec.

anyone know what to do?

Hi N DECOMP!

i have the same problem as you...
I also installed Omnisphere to an external HD and now get the message "Cannot open Multi /STEAM/Omnisphere/Defaults/default.mlt-omn".

I checked the HD and saw that all data is installed there, because the "Spectrasonics" Folder that was created in "Library/Application support/" showed a size of 42,14 gB.

I've also downloaded the latest updates from spectrasonics.

Anyone else knows, what to do?

Thanks in advance!!!
