X11 dock icon keeps popping up

X11 dock icon keeps popping up

hi all, i'm just wondering why my X11 dock icon keeps poping up randomly. it drives me crazy when im trying to click on an icon and it pops up and i click a different icon. it always appears between my docked applications and the dock separator. any help would be greatly appreciated.

It happens because something you do is causing X11 to be launched - namely using an application that requires X11 such as Open Office.

ah i will check if open office is running in the background. do you know of any common open office background processes?

No. I don't use OO. You should also check for any other X11 based apps that you may use. Note, that the Dock icon appearance of an app only occurs when the app is first launched, so if it's suddenly appearing in the Dock then you must have done something to launch it.

well i guess i fixed it, i just reinstalled X11.
