OK i have taking my ipod into the dry sauna and the steam sauna for around 15 mins each, and so far its still working fine. my question is, is it safe to use it in a steam or dry sauna.

I wouldn't use ANY electrical device in a Sauna or Steamroom, apart from condensation risks, rechargeable batteries can get destroyed in high temperatures.

    Don't do it. Seriously, don't!

If you just have to do this, my recomendation is STOP, then order a nano case by Otterbox (still in production). These cases are rated for submersion to 3 feet of water and should keep the water out (perfect for Seatle joggers

I don't know the operating temp restrictions (and humidity) of the nano, but if you look at Apple's documentation, it will be spelled out. My GUESS is that a sauna would not be an appropriate place for any iPod, but I'm just going by my knowledge of other electronic products restrictions that I am familiar with.
