video lag in itunes

video lag in itunes

i seem to have a problem playing the videos i buy off of itunes. they always seem to lag and not play quite right. there will be random pauses and 1 second skips which makes watching these videos completely not worth it.
i'm using itunes on a windows vista w/ enough ram (4 GB) and no other application running. everything else w/ itunes works fine. when i sync these videos to my iphone, they're perfect.
i've never had a problem w/ video lag w/ any other video player. not sure if that's relevant or not.
but if anybody has a fix or a tip for me, please let me know

I have the same problem, but if I pause it for a couple of seconds and start it back up, the lag is gone and stays away for the entire rest of the video. It seems this is a problem with the buffer iTunes uses to load the movie.

This is by no means a fix, but a work around. Apple needs to address this.

I am just testing a new hp 2133 mini laptop with a VIA C7-M 1.2GHz processor and have the same issue. First I tried sharing the library stored on my desktop. The video playback is so bad, I cannot watch the video. The cache setting is set to large but is there a way to make this work better? I also copied the file to the laptop but the playback is equally bad.

I've tried renting movies on iTunes several times, and it is always the same problem. The video lags behind the sound by a couple seconds. It is exceedingly irritating. I have the latest version of iTunes, a 2.13 GHz processor and 2GB of RAM. I don't have a problem with videos in any other software. Does anyone know of something I can do to speed up the playback?

has apple provided a patch, or anyone found a solution to this problem of the lag on rented movies? thanks
