Printer error: rangecheck, getinterval

I'm having problems printing to a Xerox C3545 photocopier/printer. After each print job an error page prints out with the message:

ERROR: rangecheck
OFFENDING COMMAND: getinterval
STACK: (EOJ), 0 , 14 ,

This is extremely wasteful and I can't find a way to get rid of it. Mac OS X has the relevant Xerox drivers built in, and Xerox's website lists 2 (old) sets of drivers:

1) Mac OS X Universal Binary Print Driver
2) PS PPD, Custom Updated

Despite installing these old (pre Leopard) drivers, the problem still exists.

Try adding the printer queue again but select Generic PostScript for the Print Using. If the printer does the same thing then you can rule out the driver being at fault.

That seems to have worked, but the downside is that this setup doesn't allow me to use Xerox specific features, like turning off the banner sheet, changing colour settings etc. But this is obviously what will happen with a generic postscript driver.
