I have blinking Do Not Disconnect HELP

My Ipod 2 GB,is flashing a "Do Not Disconnect" with a red circle with a line through it. What do I do to fix this? What does it mean. I tried resetting it but no go. I afraid to disconnect it. The computer that it was purchased for did not recognize it to charge it, so I tried my laptop. I do not have a USB2. I have a USB1.
