How to make music shuffle by default

While I see several posts of users whose iPhones were permanently set in shuffle mode, trying to disable shuffle, I'm trying to do the opposite.

I prefer to listen in shuffle mode, but whenever I sync my iPhone, it seems to default back to playing in order according to the song title. So I need to manually go into the iPod app and enable shuffle mode after every sync.

Is there a way I can configure it so that it'll shuffle by default even after sync? I'd prefer to just plug in my headset and just press the play button on the headset and go without having to fumble through the app interface.
