HP photosmart c6380

I guess i posted my printer problem in the wrong section the first time, so sorry. Just bought Imac and HP Photosmart c6380 printer. currently I have it hooked up USB, only way I can print at this time. Will not connect wireless. I follow direction all the way till i put in my wireless password in and try to connect to network. I wont let me go any further. Error message says cannot connect to network. Called HP, very nice but no help. They said my password must be the problem. But I checked my password and it is correct. Sounds like this is a topical problem with Leopard and HP. I do have a wireless router, Netgear WPN824 and I'm connected with comcast. So don't know what else to do. I have searched the internet frequently but have not found a soultion. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

mac, Mac OS X (10.5.5)

I seem to be having a similar problem though not entirely the same. Just recently puchased hp c6380, installed software on iMac and 2 MS computers via a wireless network SMC router. Both MS computers connect to the printer and can print. The iMac recognises the printer, can give a scan assignment (printer does it's work and scans), but when I want to print a page either in word or texteditor, the document queues, but it won't print. I connected the printer with an ethernet cable to the iMac and it worked perfectly, even when I connect it to the router via ethernetcable, it works, but when I try to have it function completely wireless (sort of the reason I bought this WIRELESS printer), it doesn't work...well on the MS computers it does, but not on the iMac. Drove the HP helpdesk mac specialist completely nuts...no solution so far. Anyone any idea?

Well I guess I"m sort glad I"m not the only one with this problem. Thanks for your response. I"m totally baffled by it. I read just about everything there is to read on this but no fix so far. If i do hear something I will post it here. I called HP and was on the phone with a guy for about to hours. He was really cool, but had no idea either. He did insisted that it was my password causing the problem. He suggested that I take my security of my router and try hooking up that way. But this my first Mac so I have much to learn before attempting something like that on my own. We returned the first printer to best buy for another one. We had hoped that it was just a random thing. But same thing happened with the next one as well. We just decide to keep it since we got such a good price for it with our MAC purchase. I emailed HP twice on this and got NO response at all. Wow what customer service. Thanks.

Just bought a HP C6380 and everything works perfect, also printing via wireless connection. My wireless connections are done via an Apple Time Capsule.

I downloaded the latest HP installer i found from the HP website ->
HP Installer_PSC6300v9.8.dmg

but I did NOT install the HP Driver Update 1.1.1 (Sept. 11 2008) that shows up in Apple's Software Update. That because HP's own software updater tells me i have the latest version already.

And at my work place i experienced the trouble with this HP driver update rev1 that caused major problems when printing to laserjets.

so if you still are having those problems, perhaps Apple's HP Driver Update 1.1.1 is the source of the problems.

I will definitely not install it......

Same problem. In fact, this printer worked fine for a while connected via my linksys router. Other computers on the network also printed fine. Now, when i try to print from basic apps like TextEditing or Word, the printer queue shows "stopped". The test pages print fine so the printer is connected wirelessly. However, it does not print from programs on the imac. Any help?

Same problem here, functions perfectly on wireless apart from the most basic thing - printing! I can check the ink levels, scan a document, visit the built-in web server, so there is clearly nothing wrong with my network setup. I get some activity in the printer queue window but nothing ever prints. Printing works fine cabled, either Ethernet or USB. I'm using a Airport Extreme base station.

I tried the 'chat to a technician online' option. It doesn't work on a Mac! Currently, the problem is with HP Mac support, by email.

Came across your discussion while trying to solve same problem. Recently purchased MacBook and C6380. Everything installed and connected without problem. All connections confirmed. Can scan to computer from the product (C6380) and from the Embedded Web Server. Can copy and print from the product. But, cannot print from computer. Jobs remain in queue.

Tried all possible solutions related to troubleshooting for printing or wireless connection problems offered by Manual. Still stuck. Submitted detailed request for support. Will post solution if discovered. Wondering if anyone else solved the problem while maintaing wireless capability of sending to print from computer.

My printing problem seems to be fixed. I left the computer for a few hours. When I came back and woke it up, a Printer Selector\HP Printer Utility box popped open. This has not occurred over the last days I've been working on this. So, not sure what pulled it up.

Instruction with this box states the Status indicator should be marked with a 'Home' icon for "printers added from the Print & Fax in System Preferences." This was not the case for my printer. So, I opened System Preferences, clicked the "-" button to remove printers that were appearing and the "+" to confirm my HP Photosmart printer as the default. I can now print from the computer. Seems to have been a user error in my case!

I am having the same problem, it seems as all of you. I bought a MacBook and a HP photosmart c6380 and it works perfectly if it is connected to the USB cord but not wirelessly. I have called everyone in every country from HP to MAC and still am unable to get the wireless part from the laptop to the printer. It keeps saying that the printer is offline? What in the world? I have done the setup three times now and the printer says it is fine. There must be a place in the Macbook that can connect me to the printer. Can anyone help me?

Hi,

I got the same printer today. I have it connected to my PC with windows vista via usb.

I have my imac in a different room. I went to imac setting and the printers. It found the printer right away.

I then proceeded to iphoto and spent the next few hours printing snaps and pictures.

I did not install any drivers on the mac, nothing...

I did not connect anything to my router, etc. Try using wireless offline...

Hope it all works out, take care.
