iPod Nano Calendar Notes...

Hey,
I read the iPod nano guide.
And it said:
" To import appointments and other calendar events manually:
1) Export Calendar events from any calendar application that uses the standart iCalendar format (filenames end in .ics) or vCal format (filenames end in .vcs). "

What programs save their filenames in .ics or .vcs ?

Thanks. : )

yes, the .vcs ones are from outlook. the vcalendar format is the one i've seen from evite, opentable, etc. when i'm adding events to my calendar.

sounds like you are using a mac though. because my nano has dumped events when i switch computers (i'm switching between two pc's, mind you), it might be worthwhile to use the ipod options menu in itunes to set which ical to sync to and to add all of your events to the ical directly (rather than dragging and dropping to your ipod).

Hello again Eva,

I just created a work.ics file in iCal by exporting one of my calendars. I then copied it into the 'Calendars' folder on my nano. When I ejected the nano and went to calendars, a new calendar called 'work' showed up on the nano after a few seconds. It had all the appropriate appointments on it.

The catch is that the next time I went to sync my calendars, since 'work' wasn't checked in my prefs, it was deleted during the sync process.

Regards,

David
